Open Call to Artists: Bicycle Culture on the Outer Cape
Bikes are everywhere here on Cape Cod, and they are often represented in all kinds of art. As part of Bike Month this year, I’m co-curating with artist Pete Hocking an exhibit themed “Bicycle Culture on the Outer Cape.”
The exhibit will run from May 1 to May 31 with an opening reception on Sat., May 4, from 4 PM to 6 PM.
The show will be held at the Provincetown Commons, the town’s new nonprofit art & business incubator. The Commons is an amazing resource in town that’s creating new opportunities for artists and entrepreneurs on the Outer Cape.
This is an “open call,” which means that it’s not juried or judged. Anyone can submit their art to be included in the exhibit. Exhibits like this complement the existing museum and gallery shows by providing a space where anyone can show their work and reach a broad audience at no cost to the artists.
The exhibit will be in the Common’s community room, which is a gigantic space with great natural light and high ceilings. Below you can see a snapshot of recent play rehearsals in this room:
