Wellfleet Rail Trail extension needs your help
Part of the puzzle to extend the Cape Cod rail Trail from Wellfleet to Provincetown is going through a public comment period and needs your input to make it happen. The deadline for public comment in November 8, 2018.
Since this project is on state land, it is being coordinated by the state Department of Conservation & Recreation. You can send a note of support to DCR using this online form:

The proposed 2-mile trail extension follows the abandoned rail corridor from the current end of the trail at Lecount Hollow Road to connect with Route 6 next to the Sunbird and Kung Fu Dumplings food trucks.
In addition to a new paved trail, the project would create new crossings with flashing beacons to improve visibility where drivers may not expect to see people riding bikes across Route 6.
The project is fully funded and will go through local conservation review as the final designs are developed. If all goes well, DCR says they expect construction to be complete for the 2020 summer season.
A lot of folks turned out at the public meeting on October 22, and their concerns were typical for property owners who are adjacent to rail trails. You can read more in this article: http://provincetown.wickedlocal.com/news/20181025/bike-path-plan-elicits-fears-and-cheers-in-wellfleet
Please take a few moments to provide your input to DCR and let them know that this is a vital connection in the overall plan to extend the trail to Provincetown.
